THE STUDY - A Space for Collaborative Partnerships
“It will be great if anyone can help me out in my career building and giving me a way to get more friends.”
“I want to improve my English language and speak fluently and in professional manner. I want to know US culture and develop intellectually.”
Comments from students during a collaborative new student orientation with both campus and community members present
Welcome to the Study! Here you can discover opportunities to team up with a group of local volunteers in your area, learn best practices, and discuss wise ethical guidelines.
Core Values
Unconditional Friendship – Our programs promote intentional, unconditional, caring friendships
Mutual Respect – We seek to cultivate a safe place to exchange ideas with respect and a desire to grow in cross-cultural understanding.
Helpful Services – Resources and opportunities are offered to assist international students in becoming comfortable and confident as they adjust to a new culture.
Truthful Invitations – When inviting students to an event, we seek to be clear and open about the nature of the event, especially if it has a religious aspect.
Thoughtful Social Etiquette – Because many cultures cannot give a direct ‘no’ response, we try to provide face-saving ways to choose not to participate.
We desire to offer friendship and good will toward international students and scholars by being honest, gracious, and respectful in all our relationships with them. We instruct our staff and volunteers to avoid coercive, deceptive, or manipulative behavior toward international students and scholars. We will identify ourselves as Christian organizations and be forthright and open in our interactions.
